미국 생물통계학 박사과정의 경우, 내가 연구하고자 하는 관심분야를 제공하는 대학원과 교수님을 찾는 것이 첫 번째입니다. 대학별로 제공하는 연구분야에 상이한 차이가 있으므로, 내가 원하는 분야 쪽으로 연구를 하고 계시는 교수님들이 많은 대학원을 찾는 것이 중요합니다. 또한, 공식적인 지원전에, 교수님께 사전 컨택을 해서 잠재적 지도 교수에 대한 허락을 구해보는 것 또한 나쁘지 않습니다. 전공 랭킹을 기준해 대부분의 상위권 프로그램들이 입학 지원전 교수 컨택이 필요하지 않다고 규정하고 있습니다. 그럼에도 나의 연구분야 쪽으로 맞는 교수님들께 사전에 연락해 지원 계획을 밝히고 교수님의 특이사항이 없는지 확인하는 의미로 사전 컨택을 해보시길 권고합니다.

Mathematics preparation for the program should include at least two years of calculus:

Desired Qualifications

In addition to the University’s minimum requirements, applicants for the PhD should have a good MS background in Statistics, or occasionally in other fields. They should have an extra year of mathematics, and demonstrated ability to succeed at the highest level.
